Academic Services Officer I/II - Communication Sciences & Disorders and Biological Sciences Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedAcademic Services Officer I/II - Communication Sciences & Disorders and Biological Sciencesat its Detroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties): Undergraduate advisor for the Departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Biological Sciences Advise current and prospective students on the requirements of the departments’ degree programs, including college and university requirements at the undergraduate level Effectively communicate necessary information Establish advising relationships with students that are supportive from prior to admissions through degree certification Coordinate appropriate student paperwork Represent the departments in prospective student events Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts for the departments Facilitate university orientation sessions for both freshmen and transfer students Assist students in developing a plan of study Coordinate course schedules in cooperation with the Chairs of the respective departments Coordinate special events as needed in cooperation with the Chairs / faculty Provide data for departmental reports and assist in regular reporting processes Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required for Academic Services Officer I and master's degree required for Academic Serivces Officer II. Preference will be given to candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience in higher education Ability to learn new skills quickly Successful experience interacting with students, faculty, and members of the public from all backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literacy required. Moderate to strong technology skills preferred. Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
