Job Overview:

The Access Associate position plays a key role in the health system. This role exemplifies warmth, patient engagement, and professionalism while functioning as a member of an integrated team to ensure patient needs are met. Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all patient data collection and information processing activities is a core competency of this role. Will be responsible for the scheduling and coordination of the Bronch cases in Pulmonary and the EEG/Sedation cases in EEG.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school graduate or equivalentMinimum of 2-3 years previous office experience

Preferred:

Direct knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminologyExcellent secretarial skills including written and verbal communications skillsTyping skill of 60 wpmProficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Knowledge of Power Point and Access

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift working, Day shiftFull-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions:

Attains pre-certifications if required with third party payers. Contacts patient and provide them with their benefit coverage.Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume, emergency staffing and schedule changes. Positively accepts difficult, unpleasant, and unexpected assignments (especially those outside the job description) making sure to clarify expectations and workload priorities.Distributes interoffice mail and external mail as required.Ensures inventory control and ordering of office supplies on monthly basis.Maintains established hospital/departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control manuals.Performs secretarial support functions, as required i.e. typing, filing, reproduction, faxing, mailings, appointments, and all appropriate coordinating efforts. Responds to all other support staff tasks as requested.Provides information to internal/external customers, staff, patients, families and visitors in person and on the phone concisely, accurately and completely, maintains a positive, courteous tone and respecting confidentiality.Provides oversight to Per Diem Clerk/ Volunteers.Provides secretarial support to Section Supervisors, directors, physicians, etc.Respond initially to all calls and queries made to the office, and direct visitors and calls to appropriate personnel and offices in a timely manner.Reviews, sorts and files a variety of material; establishes/revises filing systems and needed, and Prepares file folders.Schedules and registers all scheduled patients. Verifies all demographic information and insurance coverage. Confirms scheduled appointments within 24 48 hours.Supports Attendance Control Guidelines by one s attendance at work and punctuality in arriving on the job, appointments and meetings prepared and on time.Types and faxes test reports to physicians office.Verifies daily charges. Enters and corrects as Required.
