Access Team Manager Job Details Job Location Options Center - New York, NY Salary Range $62,400.00 - $70,000.00 Salary/year Description Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Description: The GR Options Center supports New Yorkers to enroll in and complete college by counseling teens and adults, training school and community professionals, and convening the larger community on critical issues around equity in post-secondary education. Options has supported young people to enroll in college since 1985, professionals to support others since 2005, and college students to persist in college since 2012. Options currently serves over 2,000 people a year. Purpose of Position: Reporting to the Director of Postsecondary Counseling, the Access Team Manager is responsible for supervising Options full-time college access counselors and for organizing and facilitating the work of the college access team. The Access Team Manager will help manage partnerships and college relationships and will carry an active caseload of up to 35 students a year. Lastly, the Access Team Manager will provide oversight for the annual scholarship program and transition of matriculating students into the Options Success Program. Schedule:Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week Salary Range:$62,400 - $70,000 Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account. Qualifications + Directly supervise full-time access counselors and manage Trainer-Counselors, leading weekly team and student review meetings, and provide probationary and annual evaluations. + Participate in Access Data Team Meetings; create reports with data manager, use data to counsel team and improve access programming. + Manage Access Counseling Team programmatic calendar; delegate and organize team assignments regarding planning and implementation of events, group counseling and individual counseling, including content/curriculum development, and participant communications and evaluations. + Meet bi-weekly with the Director of Postsecondary Counseling, to discuss the progression of Options Access Counseling team towards strategic and annual programmatic goals. + Work with a caseload of 10 to 35 students, providing 1:1 counseling, transitioning them into college and postsecondary programs. + Manage the transition of 125-150 Access students to the Options Success Program by the end of each academic year. + Along with Director of Postsecondary Counseling, serve as Options College Access representative for college admissions relationships, advocacy efforts, student recruitment, and high school and organizational partnerships. + Participate in ongoing professional development related to postsecondary advisement, supervision and management, by attending external and internal Goddard Riverside trainings, as well as engagement with professional associations such as, the College Access Consortium of New York (CACNY Inc.), New York State Association for College Admissions Counseling (NYSACAC), and others. + Serve as liaison and build new Robin Hood partnerships, with schools and organizations serving specialized populations of high school-aged students and adults. + Develop monthly reports and schedule frequent check-ins with Robin Hood Partnership Organizations. + Coordinate Access Intern work assignments with intern supervisor. + Oversee and facilitate the annual Options scholarship process and program. + Oversee and manage a team of essay coach volunteers. + Other duties as required. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree required. + Knowledge of U.S. higher education system, especially New York City and State, including CUNY, SUNY, and support programs required. + Preferred- 3 to 5 years of experience counseling students on college access and success or on college admissions; counseling experience in an urban, multi-cultural setting a plus; + Preferred- 2 or more years of experience supervising a team + Preferred- Experience establishing and maintaining college admissions, corporate, or community partnership relationships. + Preferred- Valid NYS driver’s license and a driving record that meets the agency’s auto insurance guidelines (including no suspensions within the last 3 years) + Fluency in Spanish a plus + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Ability to work independently and on a team + Experience in Microsoft Office and web-based applications + Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours Physical Requirements: + Packing, lifting and moving of supplies is required; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. + Ability to participate in walking tours on college campuses. Work Environment + Office work, including heavy phone and computer use, combined with frequent Off-site visits (including overnight visits) to college campuses, workshops, trainings, etc. + Candidate must be available to work remotely and must have full WIFI capabilities when working remotely.
