Position Description: The Disability Access Office (DAO) is seeking an experienced professional with a background working 1-1 with students in an advising, educational, or facilitative role. Accessibility Advisors work directly with disabled students to identify accessibility barriers and implement reasonable accommodations. Working collaboratively on a team, making informed and complex decisions, and having strong communication skills are essential to this position. As a core member of the DAO staff, and reporting to the Associate Director, the Accessibility Advisor will: • Be a pro-active resource for students with disabilities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS); conducting student access meetings; reviewing clinical documentation, determining disability status; devising, implementing, and monitoring accommodation plans; adapting accommodations as needs change • Coordinate and implement accommodations while cultivating professional relationships with University faculty and staff • With faculty and academic departments, facilitate the effective, required, and timely delivery of academic materials; confirm accommodation implementation and effectiveness throughout each course • Represent DAO in meetings pertaining to specific student issues including, facilities, health services, transportation, housing, dining services, and grievances • Collaborate on program development and delivery including process design, communications, recruitment, finance, content development, event logistics • Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations • Contribute to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging:Harvard University views equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging as the pathway to achieving inclusive excellence and fostering a campus culture where everyone can thrive.
