The Accessibility Program Manager manages the accessibility program for Planning and Facilities Management and serves as a subject matter expert on accessible design best practices and standards arising from federal and other relevant accessibility laws. They will review and provide input into Georgetown’s portfolio of projects, which are typically large in size and dollar value and complex, on the university’s historic campus. S/he provides direction and coordination of project teams composed of clients, consultant architects and engineers, construction managers, contractors, O&M personnel, contracting specialists, and fellow project managers. Managing multiple project teams consisting of up to twenty team members, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtain and assist in the solicitation of project approvals from, internal University stakeholders, appropriate government agencies, and relevant interest groups.
Develop and ensure adherence to project budgets, schedules and the GU campus plan, and quality and code standards, holding consultant and contractor team members accountable for performance of work stipulated by the contract scope of work and schedule.
Oversee the performance of design reviews supporting projects across campus.
Conduct or solicit on-site inspections of all aspects of assigned projects to evaluate A/E designers and contractor performance, confirming the satisfactory progression of work to meet the construction documents, ADA code compliance, DC Building Code, and Georgetown Design Guidelines.
Stay involved in facilities planning studies, problem solving, and analysis of database information for development of reports as well as verbal and written presentations on matters related to accessibility, ADA, and other applicable accessibility standards, DC Building Code, and inclusive design.
Perform special project activities as assigned that require application of technical expertise to the development of solutions to unusually difficult problems.
Answer questions related to accessibility in the built environment across the university and collaborate with other Georgetown colleagues who have accessibility-related roles, serving as a training resource in the areas of accessibility, ADA, and inclusive design.
Work Interactions
This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Project Administration, Planning and Facilities Management. Performs project management duties under general direction, manages multiple projects concurrently with budget values in the range of $50K to $5M per project and concurrently manages small scale designs, problem solving analyses and reports. Responsible for reviews of all projects managed by the office for adequacy of all aspects of complete design; code compliance and GU standards. Incumbent shall participate in related working groups across the Georgetown community related to accessibility and coordinate all project design issues with Georgetown clients as well as appropriate staff counterparts in the other Planning and Facilities Management areas, and other offices, including Institutional Diversity, Equity & Affirmative Action, the Academic Resource Center, the Office of the General Counsel, the Office of Compliance and Ethics, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of University Information Services, and representatives from Student Affairs and Residential Living.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Regional or Urban Planning, or Engineering; Bachelor's in Construction or Project Management degrees preferred
At least nine years of progressively responsible experience managing the planning, design, construction and contract administration of facilities renovations and new construction with a focus on accessibility, ADA 2010 Standards, DC Building Code, and inclusive design practices
Must be computer literate with specific knowledge of CADD, MS Project, and MS Office fluency
Ability to learn new software as needed for the role
A high level of interpersonal skills for daily interaction with faculty and staff, clients, GU managers, team members, and public agency officials
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask on a variety of important tasks and to prepare clear and concise reports, a variety of matrices, verbal presentations, and code analyses
State Registration as an Architect, Planner, or Engineer is preferred
ICC-certified Accessibility Inspector preferred

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$80,429.00 - $157,238.93Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
