**Job Summary**
Established in 1891, Itasca is the oldest state park in Minnesota and one of the first state parks in the country. Home to the Headwaters of the Mississippi River, the park is one of the top tourism attractions in the Upper Midwest. Itasca State Park operates 7 days a week with visitors on-site 24 hours a day during peak operations.
Itasca State Park is currently seeking a part-time seasonal Account Clerk at Itasca State Park to perform a variety of revenue processing, accounting duties, purchasing assistance and administrative support activities within existing laws and established procedures. Normal anticipated season dates are from mid-April through September 30 th .
Responsibilities include:
+ Count revenue from locations throughout the park (Retail, Lodging, Campground, Restaurants) and reconcile collected revenue reported.
+ Ensure revenue from all park concessions are properly processed according to revenue processing procedures.
+ Investigate discrepancies and procedural errors in revenue paperwork collected to document variances and improve compliance with policies and procedures.
+ Assist Accounting Officer with purchasing, invoice management, purchase orders and vendor relations.
+ Occasionally provide customer service at the Visitor Center or other locations through the park and provide other office administrative support as directed.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Six (6) months accounting experience that includes reviewing accounting records, identifying discrepancies, and processing accounting transactions.
Mathematic skills sufficient to reconcile data and balance accounts.
Problem solving skills sufficient to recognize, determine solutions, and clearly communicate the nature of a problem.
Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to internal and external customers.
Communication skills sufficient to respond effectively and appropriately to requests for information.
Skill in using spreadsheet, word processing, and other business software applications (such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, internet) sufficient to enter, compile, store, and retrieve data in a variety of reports, research issues, prepare memos, letters, report, and/or financial statements, and prepare and send emails to individuals.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Organizational and interpersonal skills sufficient to work as a productive member of a team.
Conflict resolution/human relation skills sufficient to negotiate, resolve issues, read situations, and settle disputes equitably by finding common ground and cooperation.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience using the state reporting service.
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of the Department of Natural Resources/State of Minnesota accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Associates degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, or similar degree.
Experience working in a customer service or retail setting.
**Additional Requirements**
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License with a clear driving record.
