ST Media Solutions (https://mediasolutions.seattletimes.com/) , the Advertising division of The Seattle Times, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Director – Events & Promotions to lead the development and execution of our events and promotional business model. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow a new revenue stream by creating impactful time-specific events and promotions that connect audiences and brands. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in event marketing, sponsorship sales, and program execution, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities:
+ Strategic Development: Design and implement the business model for events and promotions, leveraging industry best practices and competitive insights to drive growth.
+ Sales Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to develop compelling sponsorship and promotional packages that align with client goals and maximize revenue opportunities. Oversees the team pipeline for events and promotions, leading training, sharing best practices, and serving as a resource for Account Executives.
+ Event Planning & Execution: Oversee end-to-end event planning, including concept development, logistics, vendor management, and sales. Oversees our largest annual promotion, Best in the PNW, and is tasked with creating 1-4 additional promotions per year.
+ Revenue Generation: Identify and secure sponsorship and advertising revenue opportunities through proactive outreach and strategic partnerships, solo and in partnership with the Advertising sales team.
+ New Business Development: Utilizing events and promotions, prospects and closes new and nontraditional business for Seattle Times Media Solutions, solo or in partnership with the team.
+ Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets, ensuring profitability and financial accountability for all programs.
+ Leadership & Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients, and partners, providing clear communication and updates throughout project lifecycles.
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
+ Experience: 7+ years of experience in event marketing, promotions, sponsorship sales, or related roles, preferably within media, advertising, or agency environments.
+ Demonstrated success in building and growing revenue-generating programs.
+ Strong understanding of event production, sponsorship activation, and promotional strategies.
+ Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
+ Proficiency in CRM and project management tools.
+ Creative mindset with a passion for delivering innovative solutions.

Work Location: This is a hybrid role requiring about four days per month in the Seattle office. (1000 Denny Way). No other travel required.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $120,800 to $143,700, which is comprised of annual base pay of $60,800 to $83,700 plus potential annual commission earnings of $60,000 (with no cap). Commission pay for the first three months of employment is guaranteed at $5,000 per month, an additional 3 month guarantee of $5,000 per month is available based on achievement of KPI’s set for the position.
