Edelman Smithfield is our specialist capital markets and financial services communications team based in London. As part of Edelman's global financial communications and investor relations offering, we apply our expertise in financial markets to support our clients' engagement with stakeholders on the issues that matter to them.
We are looking for a talented consultant to join our growing financial communications team as an Account Director.
The primary role of an Account Director is to undertake the day-to-day account work for clients, be fully involved in developing strategy for the client, be proactive in suggesting initiatives to add value, and be able to provide advice and opinion where appropriate. The Account Director should also take an active role in new business pitches and networking for new business leads and support junior colleagues' training and mentoring.Role Overview:Focused on communications for private capital, engaging with leading firms in private equity, debt, secondaries, and real assets.Balance of retained clients and project-based work, offering a diverse range of responsibilities.Retained work: Involves reputation management, thought leadership, content creation, fundraising, and transaction support.Project work: Involves handling special situations, including complex M&A, restructurings, and leadership changes.Collaboration with Edelman’s global network to leverage expertise across regions.Contributing to Edelman Smithfield’s marketing initiatives in private capital.Required attributes:5-7 years in communications, ideally within the private equity sector or with a foundational knowledge of the asset class.Strong media relations skills, with a keen understanding of opportunities across business media.Skilled in writing both short- and long-form content tailored for client needs.Ability to proactively generate ideas for clients, including topics for thought leadership and event appearances.Transaction experience is a plus but not required.Strong interest in and knowledge of business news.We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway.
