Howden - Corporate & Commercial are looking to hire an Account Handler for the Roadrunner team in our Croydon office. Duties involve handling renewals and mid-term changes to meet customer needs. Please note this is a full-time, permanent opportunity. You will be based in our Croydon office and will be required to be onsite 5 days a week during training and then move to a hybrid model.
Overview:Demonstrate consistent professional and constructive communication at all times to help support a positive and collaborative working environment
Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
Support the Manager and colleagues wherever necessary to meet division/group goals and income budgets.
Following the underwriting and pricing knowledge and mentorship from the Senior member of the team to ensure that the company's underwriting performance commitments are met
Align with the laws and regulations that apply to the insurance market, including all key regulatory, conduct, and risk management requirements and responsibilities.
Utilise available actuarial information, other statistics and underwriting experience when considering acceptance, terms and premiums.
Utilise available information and profiling of risks when considering acceptance, terms and premiums.
Make effective decisions when dealing with presented cases, being able to justify underwriting decisions, keeping detailed and accurate records of policies and decisions made
Provide excellent customer service to build positive relationships with brokers and other customers
To serve as the designated Underwriter for approved Brokers, providing a custom service when needed.
Undertake any required training to ensure the role can continue to be effectively carried out.
Knowledge:Good market and competitor knowledge.
Insurance experience required, preferably experience in motor insurance.
Good understanding of TCF principles.
General Understanding of FCA GI Regulation
Skills:Underwriting experience and knowledge.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills both over the telephone and in writing.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Computer literate and detailed understanding of the Trading Platform.
The ability to think creatively and make commercial underwriting decisions.
Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Qualifications:GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
Certificate in Insurance (desirable).
