Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Singapore office: Account Management Associate
The Account Manager plays a crucial role in developing and fostering long-term strategic relationships with a portfolio of clients, particularly within the Japanese market. This position requires a deep understanding of Japanese business practices, market dynamics, and the ability to communicate effectively in Japanese. The Associate will be responsible for retaining, servicing, and expanding key accounts, directing collaboration across the firm to provide comprehensive product and service solutions that meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Referrals and Relationship Management
Obtain referrals from Japanese clients in ASEAN countries, collaborating with the Japanese Home Office to secure new referrals from new customers in Japan.
Meet with prospective referred clients to identify their needs related to their Employee Benefits (EB) programs.
Utilize risk experience to perform critical client functions, including evaluating risks, reviewing loss experience, cash flow, and financials; developing solutions; articulating the impact of options; leveraging prepared analytics; and making recommendations to clients across product lines.
Partner with senior Account Managers to retain and generate new business by leveraging strategic information and managing contract reviews and midterm changes.
Strengthen and maintain relationships with clients, prospects, client teams, and producers to provide best-in-class service and drive growth.
Serve as a client contact, responding to complex client needs and questions to enhance the client experience.
Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of changing market conditions and comply with all compliance, professional, and transparency standards to better serve clients.
2. Data Collection and Analysis
Collaborate with the MMB team to analyze data and prepare presentation decks that include available services, proposing revisions to the client’s EB program.
Consolidate key information on EB program renewals across multiple countries.
3. RFP Preparation and Client Presentations
Prepare for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with the Singapore team as required by clients.
Review and negotiate the structure and contents of the EB program with clients, ensuring alignment with referred clients.
Present findings and proposals to clients, securing Letters of Authority (LOA) in collaboration with the Singapore team.
Prepare and present available services to clients, including separate presentations to clients’ Japanese representatives in Japanese when required.
4. Cross-Country Collaboration
Work with MMB offices in other countries, providing support to clients’ Japanese representatives in Japanese on all relevant activities.
Provide governance / oversight on EB programs across all countries, as the single point of contact for clients.
Job Requirements:
Proficient in Japanese, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms.
Strong understanding of Japanese business practices and sensitivities, particularly in relation to financial institutions and trading houses.
In-depth knowledge of market dynamics surrounding Japanese organizations and financial institutions.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, prospects, and internal teams.
Excellent analytical skills to evaluate risks, review loss experience, and develop tailored solutions for clients.
