The Opportunity

We are a socially responsible company and give our customers the ability to invest a portion of their premiums in environmentally and socially beneficial projects. A pivotal role within the Distribution Practice to support the strategic planning and execution of business development in the market, establish new and maintain current relationships with a Broker panel, ensuring a heightened and professional market presence is maintained. 

We have an exciting, newly created Account Manager role within our UK Distribution team, a pivotal position to support the strategic planning and execution of business development in the market, establish new and maintain current relationships with a broker panel. Focusing on Retail business, this role will have multi-line exposure across several of our key UK product lines including, Casualty, Property and Motor. Regionally, the role will focus on looking after West Midlands with a market-facing and underlying strategic focus as you develop existing relationships to increase our underwriting reach. This is very much a partnership role with our Underwriting, who will bring their own experience and expertise to support your efforts in exploring new client relationships.

Your new role

Support the development of strategic broker accounts locally, to strengthen broker relationships and improve visibility of broker portfolio/new business opportunities in the Region. Ensure the development is in line with UK Strategy

Liaise with your Broker panel to understand their strategy and plans. Formulate Account Plans, in line with wider QBE UK broker strategy, to develop a joint plan between both broker and QBE.

Monitor and report on progress of the broker plans to ensure on target and identify any areas of underperformance. Manage and deliver Account Plan targets in New Business, retention, rate and customer satisfaction.

Ensure all broker leads are maximised by engaging/communicating effectively with appropriate stakeholders and updating relevant CRM. Where appropriate drive to completion. Extract and share MI data and use to influence business decisions considering the Broker Account plan.

Prepare information for Broker meetings and update CRM with relevant outputs

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including customers and brokers, to support constructive, mutually beneficial relationships.

Work with stakeholders across the business to ensure delivery of business plan and generate solutions where barriers to achieving business plan

Where appropriate attend industry forums/events to support distribution of QBE products and services.

Network internally and externally to promote the interests of QBE EO and to learn from others. Contribute to opportunity and knowledge sharing culture.

Build and maintain the market reputation of QBE

About You

Previous experience of commercial insurance broking practices, whether in a direct account management or underwriting related role

Experience of commercial underwriting lines, including one or more of Casualty, Property, Financial Lines, Motor etc.

In depth experience of market analysis and development planning

Experience in leading initiatives to successful outcomes

Good knowledge of insurance industry and regulatory environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
