We are seeking to hire an Account Manager to join our US HyCO West Gulf Coast (WGC) team, located in Houston, TX.

Working independently and in a team environment, you will be a business leader responsible for account management, asset management, business development, technical/financial analysis, and business leadership in the dynamic US Gulf Coast hydrogen economy.  The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and technical background as well as a passion for engaging customers and impacting the bottom line.  The position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with strong interpersonal and analytical skills who is capable of independent learning.  This position has the potential for growth within the role and beyond, commensurate with the candidate’s skills and development.

Administer contracts to maximize profitability and minimize risk.

Manage product supply/demand forecasts, contract compliance, invoicing data, and accounts receivable.

Develop account strategies and execute them through contract expansions, amendments, and renewals to protect the base business.

Champion the customer perspective in internal decisions.  Champion Air Products in external engagements.

Asset Management:

Collaborate closely with all facets of operations, provide commercial guidance on the overall production and transportation of hydrogen aimed at improving profitability and mitigating business and operational risks.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental & regulatory compliance, reliability, efficiency, cost management, product quality, and overall system optimization.

Gatekeeper for proper deployment of capital to maximize long-term profitability on assigned assets.

Ultimately accountable for achieving operating plan P&L performance on assigned assets.

Business Development:

Keep current on market, client, and industry trends (with special attention to recent dynamics around decarbonization and the energy transition) and evaluate/communicate potential opportunities and risks for the business.

Understand each client’s technical/operational requirements and match them with Air Products’ solution capabilities early in the opportunity development process.

In collaboration with Air Products’ Large Project Business Development team, support the development of each opportunity into tangible projects.

Negotiate and execute multi-million-dollar long-term product supply agreements.

Technical / Financial Analysis:

Develop a solid understanding of the technical aspects of hydrogen feedstock sourcing, production, distribution and fueling to communicate the value of hydrogen to key stakeholders.

Develop presentations and technical reports required for internal stakeholders and clients.

Strong business acumen to “own” new business opportunities and have the ability to understand cash flow models, profitability drivers, and key profitability metrics including IRR, OROI, NPV, etc.

Business Leader:

Prioritize safety as the number one goal and advocate for “Zero is Achievable” safety policy.

Possess exceptional ethical standards and should act with integrity, think strategically, drive alignment with business priorities, foster collaboration, and demonstrate an ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.

Work closely with various functions including operations, business development, EH&S (Environmental Health, & Safety), legal, finance, and accounting to achieve business objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred. If non-technical degree, must have strong technical sales/commercial experience and an ability to quickly learn the technical basics of the HyCO business.  MBA an asset.

Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to deliver timely customer-facing products/proposals.

Excellent analytical skills and business acumen – ability to formulate and articulate winning strategies and value creation for clients.

The ability to build relationships and influence, both internally and externally, is essential for success in this role.
