The Account Refund Representative’s first and foremost responsibility is to protect the financial integrity of OakBend Medical Center.  The Account Representative is responsible for reviewing and processing refund requests for both patients and insurance companies. This role involves ensuring that refunds are accurately processed in accordance with hospital policies, maintaining excellent communication with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams to resolve overpayments or billing discrepancies.

 

The Account Representative must review patient and insurance accounts for overpayments, credit balances, or discrepancies and process the refunds in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete which includes refund worksheet form. The Account Representative will need to investigate and resolve complex refund issues, including coordinating with insurance providers or patients for clarification.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION

 

High school diploma or GED

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Previous medical experience preferred.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 

None. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

 

Typing 35 words per minute.  Excellent interpersonal skills required.  Collection laws; ability to communicate well with customers; ability to handle extensive phone calls.
