Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Accountant 1 based in Albany, New York. The successful candidate will play a critical role in monitoring compliance with Federal and State regulations for Federal grant awards, assisting with contract closeouts, and conducting financial analyses. This position is within the finance industry and will involve working closely with internal fiscal staff and external providers. Responsibilities: • Monitor compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations related to Federal grant awards. • Assist with the closeout of contracts, ensuring all necessary documentation is received. • Regularly review financial reports submitted by providers for accuracy and adherence to the approved budget/award. • Collaborate with the agency's fiscal staff and providers to resolve any discrepancies in claims. • Identify and address problem areas and trends, and develop effective solutions. • Prepare fiscal summary reports and analyses to aid decision making by the agency's fiscal staff. • Track and monitor expenditures and the status of grant awards, ensuring funds are used efficiently and in line with federal fiscal guidelines. • Assist the agency's finance staff with contract reviews. • Support the Contracts team with claim reviews using financial system generated control points for annual direct contract closeouts. • Work on encumbrance related assignments for Direct Contracts on a quarterly basis. Requirements • Proficiency in financial analysis and quantitative analysis • Expertise in financial reporting and summarizing complex financial data into summary reports • Strong knowledge of budget processes, auditing, and internal control measures • Proficiency in policy development and ensuring compliance with regulations • Experience in managing contracts and pricing negotiations • Capability to administer claims, reimbursements, and grants • Proficiency in utilizing financial systems and monitoring tools • Ability to resolve discrepancies and develop solutions for financial issues • Experience in managing funds and fiscal responsibilities • Proficiency in documentation and receipt management • Experience in quarterly financial reviews and forecasts • Ability to handle grant management and financial system maintenance.
