GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position performs journey-level professional accounting activities, including processing Unemployment Insurance and Workers' Compensation tax/premium payments, reviewing and processing all amended reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
+ Ensure completeness and accuracy of data, daily deposit preparation, record balancing, and system balancing.
+ Responsible for preparing fiscal documents to include daily deposits and maintaining employer account contribution information.
+ Serves as lead for accounts receivable functions, overseeing and verifying peers' work, temporary and part-time workers in accounts receivable functions.
+ Responsible for assisting delinquent employers in collecting missing reports and monies.
+ Processes employee wage protests from UI benefit claimants to verify employer information, including follow-up on missing wages and collection of additional taxes.
+ Responsible for organizing Special Projects, including scheduling seminars, conferences, etc.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in Unemployment Insurance Statutes and Regulations.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience with ACH debit, ACH credit, and cashiering experience.
Preference may be given to candidates with accounts receivable experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Working knowledge of accepted accounting and auditing practices.
+ Knowledge of Unemployment Insurance & Workers' Compensation statutes and Rules & Regulations.
+ Skills in written and oral communication.
+ Organizational skills.
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Skills in problem-solving.
+ Ability to research and accurately determine a series of events affecting employer accounts.
+ Ability to efficiently use a 10 key.
+ Ability to understand computer applications, Microsoft Excel, and the ability to learn new technology.
+ Ability to understand relationships between employer reports, wage lists, and system accounts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
