Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

 

About the Role

 

Schedule: 5 days in / 2 days off followed by 4 days in /3 days off

Reporting to: Assistant Controller

Location: Emo, Ontario

 

Position Objective

The accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance team by performing various accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, processing transactions, assisting with financial reporting and audit requirements. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all financial and physical information Maintaining SOX working papers and ensuring compliance with internal controls Maintain the accuracy of the fixed asset register Perform account reconciliation and related entries Prepare general ledger and bank/credit card reconciliation Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits Support the Finance Team in various projects and initiatives Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations

 

Qualifications:

Degree in Finance, or a relevant combination of skills and experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Personal Integrity Self-directed, pro-active and self-motivated Comfortable working with both Mining Operations and Finance Demonstrate an eagerness to learn Experience in the manufacturing or mining industry preferred Knowledge of SAP preferred Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling preferred
