Position Overview

This position will support the financial accounting and reporting of domestic operations with a heavy emphasis on yarn and carpet manufacturing. This includes, but is not limited to, month-end closing activities, periodic reporting and analysis, and raw material invoice processing. The position will work closely with corporate accounting staff, plant-level accounting, and corporate industrial engineering. This position will report to a Manager within the Corporate Manufacturing Accounting department.

Objectives:

           

Develop understanding of Manufacturing Plant Accounting. Coordinate the accounting and reporting of operating variances for specific plants which may include Carpet, Yarn, Hard Surface, Outside Processing and/or Warehouse facilities within the Manufacturing Division. This will include interaction with and guidance of plant-level accounting resources as well as interaction with corporate staff.  This will include month-end closing activities for those plants and will require the candidate to become proficient at reviewing the work of others to correct and prevent errors.

Develop working relationships and partnerships with Manufacturing and Operations. This position will serve as the accounting liaison for specific manufacturing plants and will be the corporate accounting representative for those plants. At times this may involve site visits and participation on plant-level (and possibly divisional) teams.

Develop an understanding of our accounting systems and how they relate to manufacturing. These systems would include Oracle Fusion, PeopleSoft Financials, Impact, CARS (Corporate Absorption Reporting System), PAW (Planning Analytics Workspace), and TM1.

Essential Duties:

Perform month-end closing tasks for multiple manufacturing plants

Oversee monthly Plant Operating Variance Analysis (POVA) publication and distribution to management

Perform routine and ad-hoc reporting for manufacturing and operations support

Perform certain data analysis and manipulation tasks as needed to include routine loading of monthly journal entries

Communicate effectively with people at various levels within our company and those of outside companies as well

Prepare and submit governmental surveys

Support Accounts Payable when needed with process invoices from raw material vendors

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

Demonstrate excellent organizational skills

Demonstrate a good working knowledge of computerized accounting systems

Self-motivated individual who follows directions well and works well with limited oversight

Must be able to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment

Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Basic understanding of accounting/costing principles and ability to learn

Ability to communicate accounting information, policies, and procedures in an easily understood manner

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment

Ability to work well with a diverse group of people at various levels within and outside the company

Strong Microsoft Office foundation with emphasis on spreadsheets and data manipulation

Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications

Ability to recognize problems and offer possible solutions (self-starter strongly preferred)
