Purpose of Position

The Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team and supports general accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, account rollforwards and reconciliations, financial statement closing controls and procedures in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position also collaborates with other departments and supports process improvement initiatives.

Tasks and Responsibilities Maintain the project cost system SAP-PS (SAP Project System) Assign and activate WBS Elements (Work Breakdown Structure) and project budgets to approved projects in SAP-PS, entering related invoices into SAP A/P Ensure that all postings, allocations, accruals, and payments for the project are completed accurately  Support project leaders to address changes in project scope or timeline and resolve any financial issues Generate monthly and ad hoc financial project status reports including project cost variance reports Track and analyze financial results for projects Monitor Accounting Mailbox for project related notifications and requests Monitor AFE (Approval for Expenditures) Smartsheet and respond accordingly. Reconcile and analyze General Ledger accounts in compliance with company established accounting policies and procedures Prepare accurate routine and non-routine journal entries in preparation of monthly financial close Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting tasks to meet weekly and monthly accounting deadlines Manage underlying data, supporting documentation, and spreadsheet-based calculations to support accounting accuracy and completeness Perform technical accounting research and make suggestions regarding improved ways to conduct business Support process improvement initiatives and share best practices across the department. Create, improve, and automate financial reporting Participate in special projects as assigned by manager Minimum Education Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  Minimum Experience 2-4 years of relevant experience  Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong knowledge in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance  Public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience preferred  Intermediate or higher level of Microsoft Excel skills or Power BI  Experience with SAP, or similar system preferred  Strong verbal and written presentation skills  Strong analytical skills with ability to reconcile data and analyze variances  Possesses initiative, confidence, and drive to achieve results without explicit direction or detailed instructions  Displayed ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment  Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously  Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner  Continuous improvement orientation   Physical Demands and Work Environment
