Mission:  The Indiana Department of Child Services leads the state’s response to allegations of child abuse and neglect and facilitates child support payments. You will advise the controller about accounts and funds. Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: Tasks include: + Monthly bank reconciliations + Monthly reconciliation between the automated tracking system (ISETS) and the state financial system (PeopleSoft Financials). + Weekly research deposits to the generic fund and allocate to an appropriate fund. Complete necessary corrections. + Weekly gather resolved documentation and submit requests for Zero ROC to the Supervisor for review. + Reconcile weekly and monthly non-sufficient funds register with the Indiana Central Collection Unit (INSCCU). + Receive checks, verify and update cashbook, and confirm backup documentation. Write necessary bank deposit slips and verify deposits. + Upload spreadsheets, process ROCs in PeopleSoft Financials, and verify the accuracy of charts. Take ROCs to the Treasurer of State. + Daily process NSF and send to INSCCU using IDOCs. + Daily reconciliation of Credit cards and comparison to ISETS reports. (Go into IQ and AMEX websites and pull daily deposit information; compare to ISETS 200 report daily). + Process Debit and Credit Memo bank adjustment requests from the Treasure of State. + Complete monthly 637 Report (Statewide Foster Care Payment and Transaction Report). + Yearly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and notify the supervisor when a new publication is needed. + Work closely with CSB to resolve child support discrepancies. + Assist other team members as needed. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: + Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of public accounting. + Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they pertain to accounting and bookkeeping. + Extensive knowledge of agency organization, function, and purpose. + Extensive knowledge of automated accounting systems. + Ability to lead budget preparations. + Ability to direct the preparation and interpretation of complex financial statements and reports. + Ability to analyze and solve complex accounting problems. + Ability to develop new, or modify existing, accounting procedures and methods. + Effective communication skills. + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
