Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant for a temporary position located in Winslow, Maine. This is an on-site role, with standard working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.
ResponsibilitiesHandle bank reconciliations.Prepare monthly journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate financial data and compliance with regulations.Review accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.Support annual audit processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.Manage fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and capital expenditure tracking.Coordinate with external vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies.Use Microsoft Excel to manage and analyze financial data.Collaborate with other team members to support overall department goals and objectives.Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Respond to inquiries from finance personnel and other stakeholders regarding financial results and special reporting requests.Understand sales tax regulations in each state and Canadian HST requirements.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Accounting.Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related role (preferred public accounting experience).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.Additional Skills & Qualifications5+ years of Accounting experience.Experience with ERP systems (specific ERP not specified).Ability to support AP/AR team.Knowledge of general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end processes.Work Environment
This position is on-site five days per week, located in Winslow, Maine. The accountant will have their own desk and will handle general ledger, month-end close, bank reconciliations, and support the AP/AR team as needed.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
