The Controller Division Accounting group is seeking to fill an Accountant 1 position. The Controller group provides support services on the purchase of products and services to the lab. 

Responsibilities Report to the Controller Disbursements (CNTL-DISB) Group Team Leader and will support the group missionReviewing and processing subcontractor invoices to ensure costs are paid in accordance with the subcontract requirements of moderate complexityProvide invoice review services that include verification that costs are accurate, properly supported and otherwise allowableCommunicate with subcontractors, subcontract specialists, project managers and technical requesters to discuss/resolve invoice and payment issues. Qualifications BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and 2 years related experienceIn lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience may be applicableU.S. Citizenship is required per contractThis position is telework - must live within a 2-hour commute of Santa Fe or Los Alamos. Candidate will be required to work onsite 2 or more days per month.Demonstrated experience working with contracts and subcontracts processes and requirementsDemonstrated knowledge of various contract types including time and materials, labor hours and cost reimbursementKnowledge in identifying performance deficiencies and recommending strategies, procedures, and implementing, improving and enhancing functionalityKnowledge and experience in accounting, accounts payable bookkeeping or similarKnowledge of the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Interpretation and application of financial policies and procedures and performing self-assessmentsKnowledge of governmental financial accounting, in accordance to federal laws governing accounting procedures and systems.Knowledge and experience researching, gathering, analyzing data, summarizing results, resolving problems and issues both independently and as a team member.Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining excellent organization and prioritization with proven ability to follow through completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing prioritiesDemonstrated ability in providing strong customer service and interpersonal skillsProven ability in effectively working within a team environment and interacting and networking with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated proficient use of computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Desired:

Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or universityExperience working with contracts and subcontracts processes and requirements.Demonstrated knowledge of various contract types including time and materials, labor hours and cost reimbursement.Knowledge of governmental financial accounting, in accordance with federal laws governing accounting procedures and systems
