Here's how an Accountant for our Halifax office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities Performs general accounting and administrative functions to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting. Completes all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner. Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises. Assists with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements. Assembles client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment. Prepares and maintains the Subcontractor qualification process for our risk insurance program called Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI). Meets with subcontractors both on site and off site, as needed, to evaluate, obtain, and approve prequalification information, including financial statements. Coordinates SDI insurance claims and compiles claim reports as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. 1 year of accounting experience in construction or insurance industry preferred. Understanding of full-cycle accounting. Knowledge of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles. Exposure to owner contracts as they relate to payment terms and billing requirements. Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements (preferred).
