We are currently seeking an Accountant-Auditor I and II and Administrative Analyst I and II. Please be sure to apply for all jobs and all levels of positions which you feel you may be qualified for.
Join the professional and service oriented Auditor-Controller's office and complete a variety of complex accounting, statistical and narrative reports vital to producing accurate and timely financial statements for the County of Nevada and its partners! This opportunity requires outstanding judgment and the accounting skills needed to objectively review and process financial transactions related to the administration of property taxes. The position will be responsible for completing complex accounting transactions and preparing reports related to property tax assessments, payments, and audits. It will play a vital role in ensuring the County’s property tax processes are accurate, timely, and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Other key proficiencies include the ability to:
+ Maintain accurate and complete specialized accounting records
+ Prepare, analyze, and audit financial reports related to property tax assessments
+ Evaluate and design internal controls for property tax related processes and workflows
+ Reconcile property tax records with accounting systems and resolve discrepancies
+ Respond to inquiries from property owners, tax authorities, and state agencies
+ Maintain and update detailed records of property tax assessments and transactions
+ Monitor and analyze property tax law changes and assess their impact on the County’s property taxation and reporting.

Education and Experience Required
Level I:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 semester units in accounting.
OR
Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 9 semester units in accounting and two years of experience performing duties equivalent to those of an Accounting Technician in Nevada County.
OR
Completion of a concentrated accounting certificate program that includes a minimum of 20 units of accounting from an accredited college or university (such as UC Davis's Certificate of Accounting program) and five years of work experience in the field of accounting comparable to Nevada County's classification of Accounting Technician.
Level II (in addition to the above):
Two years of accounting experience at a level equivalent to Nevada County's classification of Accountant-Auditor I, preferably in governmental accounting.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
