Job Summary:

The role of the General Ledger Accountant is to manage and develop department functions and processes. The introductory role will primarily focus on monthly close process and associated transactions. This coincides with accounting procedures within primary business units of lodging, food & beverage, and ski & ride.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

The General Ledger Accountant position is within the accounting department, directly reporting to the Controller. The individual fulfilling this role will work to develop additional skills and knowledge to further support the comprehensive functions of the accounting team. The initial work will focus on general ledger transactions and associated point of sale procedures on key business units: lodging, food & beverage, ski & ride. The expectation is to learn and grow within the greater accounting and finance environment of the resort, and responsibilities will change over time. Responsibilities and essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

Understand the process and planning of point-of-sale transactions and online sales as related to the general ledger. This includes processing receipts, related accounting functions, and operational audits.Account reconciliations primarily comprised of deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.Confer regularly with staff to plan and coordinate activities, assign and check work, assist with difficult or unusual tasks and resolve problems.Review all control procedures and make recommendations for improving efficiency and/or accuracy.Monitor and ensure that all established control procedures are followed by staff.Audit and reconcile daily revenue including control procedures for redeemable payment media such as gift cards and vouchers.Prepare deposits for check revenue.Credit card charge backs, coordinate dispute responses across departments.Manage correspondence and procedures with credit card merchants to address guest inquiries and disputes.Reconcile credit card merchant transactions to bank deposits; review and analyze variance.Reconcile credit card clearing accounts; review and analyze variance.Oversee and complete the preparation of various weekly and other regular or special reports, including data entry, balancing and final report generation.Manage procedures and processes for general ledger entries throughout the monthly close process.Prepare a variety of administrative/operation reports and records.Carry out various special projects related to accounting and finance.Confer regularly with immediate supervisor and other company departments and personnel to plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities/policies/procedures; resolve problems and exchange information.Maintain relationships with credit card processors and work closely with technology department to support and maintain systems.Always provide superior service to our customers (internal and external).Follow the Hospitality Standards while interacting with internal and external guests.Perform other tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Three years of relatable professional experience in business management, or bachelor’s education in business/accounting, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.Ability to work onsite/in person at Killington Resort full time.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of standard accounting principles and methods.Motivation and positive attitude towards learning new skills relating to systems and financial management.Ability to cooperate effectively with a wide variety of company personnel as well as customers, property owners, vendors, and others outside the company.
