POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Accountant II, performs accounting work of a varied nature focusing on processing general ledger journal entries and performing daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations, following the established procedures and policies. The position will be expected to perform control work accurately and on a timely basis. This position will be responsible for ensuring proper review and controls over various accounts, including cash and clearing, suspense, accruals, loans, deposits, etc.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs daily reconciliations of in-house bank accounts and applications to general ledger. Researches and resolves a variety of problem transactions ensuring all accounts are in balance. Maintains documentation as required by Sarbanes-Oxley to support and back up reconcilements and proofs. Timely reconciles and clears differences to be in compliance with Bank policies. Posts journal entry sheet to general ledger. Processes miscellaneous debit and credit tickets daily. Completes some month-end accounting processes as needed including account balancing and reconciliations, fixed asset depreciation, accruals, and prepaid expense amortization. Prepares one-off account schedules and other assignments as assigned.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field of study 1-3 years work experience in Accounting, commensurate with job function. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Proficient with MS Office including Word and Excel. Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Detail-oriented and accurate Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Banking experience preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment.  Noise levels are usually moderate.

 

HAZARDS:

The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting and those present in commuting by car. Occasionally may be exposed to those conditions present in public forums and meeting places.
