Our Purpose: To drive financial clarity and empower strategic decision-making through accurate and timely reporting. About the Accountant II: The Accountant II prepares journal entries, difficult and involved reconciliations, researches exceptions, and analyzes trends and costs to validate results. This team member relies on several years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish a variety of job functions and closing activities. The Accountant II works under limited supervision and interacts with other departments and/or external parties when necessary. Responsibilities What you'll be doing: Prepare and input complex journal entries Reconcile General Ledger accounts to ensure balances are reported accurately in the financial statements Calculate and validate accruals Work with other departments to research exceptions and variances Prepare monthly management reports and analysis, which includes ad-hoc, one-time requests Assist with documentation to ensure compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley requirements Research, document, and resolve reconciling items, which requires problem solving capabilities Prepare external and internal audit schedules Consistently question unusual / non-routine transactions and account balance variances Qualifications What makes you the dream candidate? Knowledge of database query tools (eg SQL, SAS, and Cognos Analytics) Strong background with automated accounting/financial systems Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Working knowledge of account reconciliations Working knowledge of the accounts payable process Working knowledge of financial statements Advanced knowledge of Excel Advanced skills in creating ad hoc queries/data mining and reporting Experience with financial reporting tools and database query tools Good leadership skills Possess the skills necessary to operate various office equipment Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions Experience using SQL and SAS (Statistical Analysis Software) strongly preferred Experience 3-5 years experience in an accounting department and working with a general ledger/financial statements;must understand how different departments and transactions can affect the general ledger required What We Offer: Generous benefits package available on day one to include: 401K matching, bonding leave for new parents (12 weeks, 100% paid), tuition assistance, training, GM employee auto discount, community service pay and nine company holidays.
