SUMMARY

The Property Accounting Trainer serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in producing accurate and timely financial information for our real estate clients by conducting trainings for SSA employees including new hires and by producing accurate and updated training materials for the team.  The Property Accounting Trainer is further accountable for helping the team deliver client’s financial reporting through internal operational effectiveness of the accounting and internal controls functions, that will support and produce positive customer experiences for high maintenance, and complex client portfolios.
He/she is also accountable for producing effective training materials and establish best practices to promote process consistency across all sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in training SSA employees in producing timely and accurate financial information and a deep analysis of that information to clients Responsible in creating new training materials/contents for SSA Perform ongoing audit and update of training materials resulting from process changes and evaluation feedback Assist leadership team in training, coaching peers, driving innovations, and in promoting process consistency Present new training content materials in live training sessions and recorded videos Attend RPA enhancement meetings and assist in the implementation of these enhancements Assist in preparing monthly information for clients when required Requires the use of technical accounting skills to assess appropriateness of accounting treatment Work with mid-level managers in implementing policies and procedures that ensure adequacy of internal controls, safekeeping of assets, efficient operations, and compliance with GAAP accounting rules, as appropriate Assist in development of long-term strategies for growth and maintenance of department resources Handle special projects and recommend technology focused solutions to enable people and system scalability Develop & maintain supportive working relationships with associates and support team leaders May act the go-to-person of other Accountants Able to perform/assist on financial review (straightforward to complex sites). Can easily identify unusual balances and provide guidance on the correction or adjustments. Regular and predictable attendance is required Willing to work for extended hours on month-end days Work independently & troubleshoot as needed Escalate and communicate problems/statuses to management and appropriate team members Work with peers and implement process improvements to promote efficiencies and decrease turnaround time Work cooperatively and jointly with internal/external customers to provide quality service and to streamline workflows Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

5-7 years prior experience in general ledger accounting is highly desirable Prior experience with residential or commercial property accounting is highly desirable Prior experience with RealPage or other property accounting systems is highly desirable Strong oral and written communication skills needed Solid documentation skills, writing and reporting Strong interpersonal skills Strong research and problem-solving skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft products
