Description We are providing an engaging opportunity for an Accountant in the education sector. The position is based in New York, New York, 10036, United States. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity and will involve in-depth budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure precise budget forecasting and allocation.
• Assist in the accurate preparation, analysis, and monitoring of the organization's budget.
• Support the effective implementation and integration of the financial system.
• Carry out financial analysis and create reports to aid decision-making.
• Offer technical support and training related to the new financial system.
• Identify and resolve any budget discrepancies and variances.
• Perform monthly reconciliations to uphold the financial integrity of various budgets and financial data.
• Conduct detailed analysis of requests for capital budget allocations for State and City projects.
• Ensure project chart fields and financial codes align with authorized budgets, maintaining compliance with financial guidelines and organizational policies.
• Participate in the maintenance of various datasets for expenses, revenue, staffing, enrollment, and other indicators.
• Assist with special and ad hoc reports and analyses when required.
• Coordinate State and City capital-related exercises and plans.
• Review and coordinate the submissions of capital projects to the State and City of New York.
• Engage in preparing, reviewing, and reconciling projects for inclusion in the University’s Capital Request. Requirements • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying financial information to all levels of the organization
• Proven experience in providing training and technical support to team members
• Familiarity with compliance regulations and standards in the accounting field
• Proficiency in planning and executing financial processes
• Demonstrated ability in managing budget processes efficiently
• Strong finance skills, with a thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proven ability in implementing strategies to improve financial operations
• Skilled in budgeting, with the ability to develop and manage financial plans
• Experience in revenue accounting, including tracking and reporting income
• Capability to perform ad hoc financial analyses as required
• Experience in implementation of financial systems or procedures
• Proficient in forecasting financial trends and outcomes
• Experience with expense reporting and management
• Proven staffing skills, with the ability to manage and lead a team of financial professionals
• Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data
• Experience with monitoring tools to track financial performance
• Familiarity with coding financial data for easy categorization and analysis
• Proficient in using charts and graphs to present financial data visually
• Experience in capital management and optimizing use of resources
• Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Experience managing funds, including investments and cash flow
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with colleagues and clients
• Proficient in variance analysis, with the ability to identify and explain financial trends and deviations
• Experience in change management, with the ability to adapt and lead teams through financial changes or challenges
