Captive Accounting Analyst

The Accounting Analyst, Captive will fill a key role within the Finance Organization. This position is responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of finance and accounting services, specifically in the areas of Captive Insurance financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with management in the US to review monthly results, analyze loss reserves, and implement program changes. This position may also partner with our other international teams and provide them with accounting guidance and reporting in support of their programs related to insurance and extended service contracts. The candidate will be involved in month end close processes to prepare monthly client reporting, journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.

JOB DUTIES:

Prepare Monthly Client Reporting and Analytical Schedules including underwriter reportingPrepare and interpret reinsurance financial results for multiple domestic and international clientsReview claims forecast and loss development patterns to ensure adequate reserves are maintainedMaintain Operational Results Templates and prepare journal entries for Domestic and International CaptivesPrepare and Review General Ledger reconciliationsEnhance the documentation of key internal controls and procedures.Prepare monthly GAAP and Statutory reporting for both Domestic and International CaptivesIdentify best practices and create ideas for process improvements.Assist external and internal auditors with providing schedules required for various audits of financials and reportingSupport Program Management/Client Services with Ad-hoc projects and inquiriesEnhance process efficiency and accuracy through automationPerforms ad hoc activities and tasks as required

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES: 

General accounting skills and knowledge of GAAPSystems aptitude and proficiency in Excel, Access, and financial softwareSkilled in data mining and working with large volumes of dataStrong background in financial analysis is essential to this position. Self-Starter with ability to set priorities to meet objectives and change agent for process improvementProblem solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and results orientedAdvanced Excel skills including, pivot table, formulas and others.One Stream skills strongly preferredUnderstanding of International Currency Conversion preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced, demanding, constantly changing environmentStrong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communicationsAbility to establish priorities, work independently (self-starter, self-directed), and proceed with objectives with minimal supervisionPositive attitude, self-confident, competent with a strong team orientation and superb relationship building skillsProfessional and personal integrity beyond approachCan do/will do attitude with the ability and willingness to work flexible hours and commitment to do what it takes to get the job doneStrong attention to detail with large numbers and complex data sets.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceProfessional Qualification such as CPA, CA (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered)The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years’ experience in a commercial environment, preferably in a Telco and Insurance industryPrevious experience running SQL preferredPrevious accounting/reconciliation experience requiredDemonstrated experience in understanding of general ledger accounts and journal entries.Proven ability to work well with external and internal customers
