I. Job Summary
The Accounting Analyst II will provide accounting and finance coverage for all WM Area Finance/Accounting teams and Corporate Finance/Accounting departments (i.e. finance, accounting, internal audit, treasury). The analyst will be assigned to support projects and assignments across a variety of Finance functions.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Executes moderately complex financial tasks in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines. Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility including preparing journal entries of low to high complexity. Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and adequately document conclusions. Analyzes monthly financial results; able to communicate trends in results and provide meaningful insights into the results. Displays critical thinking skills in preparation of analyses. Collects and analyze financial data and prepare monthly combined financial statements and reports. Coordinate preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy. Assists with evaluating, documenting, and concluding on the accounting consequences of potential transactions. Participates in monthly financial review meetings. Provides guidance to other Finance personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application. Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls. Execute internal controls responsibilities timely and accurately.

A. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (accredited) Required or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years or relevant work experience Required. 3 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement) required.
B. Preferred Qualifications
Big 4/Public Accounting and Industry experience
IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be in the Houston area; no relocations for this role Must be authorized to work in the US General understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and SEC regulations Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong business acumen Ability to travel up to 10%
