About Role

Howden Re is the global reinsurance broker and risk, capital, & strategic advisor focused on relentless innovation & superior analytics for top client service. We are looking for a Managing Director level hire with 15+ years of experience in complex claims. This role will act as a trusted Claims advisor, working directly with our external Clients/Reinsurers and internally with our Broker Teams to help clients navigate complex claims and get the full value of their reinsurance coverage.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working closely with clients to advise on strategy for handling of large and complex claims, including but not limited to determining reinsurance coverage, presentation to reinsurance partners, negotiations and dispute resolution if required, and collection of recoverable balancesWorking internally with Howden Re broker teams on policy and contract interpretation, claim strategy, and relationship management with clients and their reinsurance business partnersMonitor and report on claim trends in the insurance industry which may impact reinsurance pricing and coverage for clients seeking reinsurance protectionAdvise clients on best practices, process improvements, and industry developments impacting their claims operationsAssist brokers and clients with preparation for reinsurer audits, responses to queries, and analysis and implementation of suggested process improvementsEducate internal and external audiences on claims related topics to improve knowledge and performanceContribute to business development effortsRepresent Howden Re at industry eventsTravel to client sites as required

Qualifications:

15+ years of Re/Insurance Claims expertise with complex claims across various lines of business including Property, Liability, Professional Liability, Workers Compensation, and othersExposure to the full claim life cycle, from coverage analysis, through negotiation, involvement in litigation/arbitration, settlement, calculation and collection of ceded recoverablesJ.D. a plusAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentMust be authorized to work in the U.S.
