Reports to: Controller


Summary:

To cross-train functional areas of accounting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Builds RelationshipsPromotes Living BrandServes as Product Brand AdvocateCommits to company mission and valuesAdheres to company approved accounting proceduresSafeguards all assetsUtilizes various computer programs to efficiently process invoices, taxes, etc.Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reconciliation of data and accountsMonitors store level compliance with accounting policy and proceduresAccepts other duties assigned by supervisorAdditional assigned essential functions within Department:DC PayablesAccounts for all Bakery and Distribution activities from receipt through billing to stores and donationsReconciles warehouse management system transactions to the accounting ERP softwarePrepares Bakery cost of salesFuel & TaxAccounts for all fuel and carwash activity from purchase to cost of salesWorks closely with the Petroleum Department providing reporting and managing alertsFiles operating tax returns including sales/use, gasoline use, motor fuel, pre-paid wireless, food and beverage, federal excise, and cigarette exciseServes as a back-up associate for receivables and fixed assetsThis position reports directly to the Chief Accounting OfficerInventory & Fixed AssetsRecords and categorizes all long-term assetsFiles property tax returnsMaintains stores inventory of all categories outside of fuelServes as back-up associate for fuel and nontrade payablesNontrade PayablesProcesses all invoices for contracts, construction, repairs, supplies, and utilitiesWorks with all departments to ensure proper approval process is followedVerifies vendor statementsServes as back-up associate for fixed assetsReceivablesReconciles rebate paymentsProcesses payments from tenants, credit companies, and all other receivablesManages the accounting of the proprietary fleet programsMaintains lease recordsServes as back-up associate for Distribution Center PayablesStore OperationsReconciles all store entries for sales and cash and equivalentsMaintains daily reporting formsServes as back-up associate for Store Accounting ManagerReports directly to Store Accounting Manager

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must have flexibility to work all shifts, all days of the week, when necessary while maintaining the natural accounting cycle ebbs and flows. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for minimum of 30-minute intervals. Exposure to cleaning solvents.

TRAVEL No travel outside of daily travel to Family Express Office is expected for this position.

Must be at least 18 years of ageMust have reliable transportation

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Previous retail experience2–4-year college degreeProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookDigital literacy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods; work longer

than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the

job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability

to focus.
