Job Overview: 

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the accounting department. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling bank statements. The Accounting Clerk will ensure that the company's daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is 100% on site in our Herndon Corporate office.

Responsibilities

Duties: 

• Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts to ensure correct account classification and accuracy
• Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts
• Update and track Accounts Receivables
• Balance Sheet and Bank Reconciliations
• Assist with the monthly close process, including reporting and analysis
• Recognize and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing accounts
• Assist in analyzing costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations
• Setup new projects and corresponding charge codes
• Assist in preparing year end audit and quarter end reviews
• Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records utilizing corporate systems, government systems, practices, and technologies
• Additional tasks include financial reporting, process improvements and ad hoc projects
• Assist in processing travel expenses
• Process employee reimbursements

Qualifications

Required:

U.S. citizenship.Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multi-task and complete assignments as well as accept direction on given assignments.Strong verbal and written communicationEffective working independently or collaboratively as a team playerProficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, notably Microsoft Excel(formulas and pivot table)Highly ethical and able to consistently demonstrate and reinforce the highest level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency, teamwork, and a positive results-orientation.Aptitude for numbers.Data entry and word processing skills.

Desired:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting with 0-2 years of relevant work experience.Federal/state/local tax experienceKnowledgeable and proficient with JAMIS ERPExperience with SAP ConcurGOVCON ExperiencePayroll reconciliation experienceEstablish sound procedures so that accounting records provide accurate and timely information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and are in compliance with federal, state, local and international tax jurisdictions.
