Food City Interns work on meaningful projects spanning all solutions and services throughout the company. Created for upcoming Junior and Senior college students, our full-time (40 hours/week), 12-week programs are designed to provide hands-on experience within your area of interest. As an Intern, you will join over 19,000 talented individuals across five states who are leaders, critical thinkers, accountable, innovative, flexible, and results-minded with the same goal – to better serve our communities.

Location: 1 Food City Circle, Abingdon, VA (Corporate Departments)

**Housing options are available through partnership with Emory & Henry University in Emory, VA

Description: As you launch your career as an Accountant with Food City, you will focus on leading a significant business project from start to finish, as well as gain experience outside of the classroom. You will apply the analytical and business knowledge gained in the classroom in a real-world setting, while being supported by a team. Our projects are result-oriented, engaging, and represent current business challenges that require a new perspective. The experience requires collaboration with team members from across business divisions; includes networking with our Executive Leadership team, Senior Management, and participation in social engagements with interns across our organization. Additional activities are planned to provide insight into day-to-day life at K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. At the conclusion of the internship, you will showcase your work in a final presentation to our senior leaders.  

Program Requirements:

Currently enrolled in a college or university as a Junior or Senior, majoring in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field of study.Recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field of study.Minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative.Have strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.Ability to preserve confidentiality of company information.Ability to work with own initiative.

Not Required, but Encouraged:

Previous experience in a professional work environmentParticipation in leadership rolesCommunity involvement and volunteerism
