Accounting & Financial Reporting Analyst
Overview

This position is responsible for various tasks within the Accounting Department, primarily focusing on Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and the Coupa Application for Procurement. The incumbent will maintain and update desktop manuals and play a pivotal role in executing the Bank’s accounting processes as assigned. They will contribute to a collaborative environment and uphold high standards of professional accuracy and promptness. This role demands a strong understanding of financial controls, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under time pressure. It is a fixed-term contract position with a high probability of conversion to a permanent role for the right candidate.

High-achieving accounting professionals may be considered for an Associate level position.

Key Accountabilities

Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets

Ensure timely processing of Account Payables. Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services. Receive and verify Employee Expense Reimbursements prior to payment. Verify that payment claims and transactions comply with policies and procedures (e.g., travel and entertainment expenses). Prepare and input entries in the Oracle Accounts Payable system. Prepare any required reports for reconciliation purposes between Coupa and Oracle AP. Prepare vendor cheques for mailing. Maintain an appropriate paper or electronic Accounts Payable filing system that provides a proper audit trail. Maintain an accurate list of approved vendors and vendor account numbers. Enhance workflow processes for Accounts Payable, including the review of all forms.

 

Other Accounting Duties

Streamlining and enhancing workflow processes. Preparing general ledger journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis. Preparing and maintaining Excel working paper files for various reports. Assisting in GIS systems project testing, including Oracle applications, as necessary. Maintaining the desktop procedures manual for the accounts payable function. Providing back-up for miscellaneous administrative tasks as required. Ensuring compliance with all Bank Policies and Procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering policies.

 

Interpersonal/Communications

Interact with all staff and management, relevant departments in the Americas Division. Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers. Develop meaningful control reporting through relationships with management and peers in other regions.

Liaise with various New York and Head Office departments to resolve any open issues

Job Specifications

Knowledge & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent. Knowledge and experience in the operation of a Schedule III Bank is useful. Strong analytical and communication skills; excellent writing skills are a great asset. Self-motivated and result-oriented, adaptable to changes arising from department transformation. Knowledge and understanding of foreign bank operations is desirable. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

“Nice to have” skills:

Knowledge of Oracle general ledger application preferred. Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflows and meet deadlines. Strong reasoning ability to understand complex situations, people, and system needs in an ever-changing regulatory control environment. Ability to work independently on projects with minimal oversight, learn quickly, and dissect complicated issues within a large financial institution.
