Do you want to pursue industry for accounting after graduation? Badger Meter is looking for an accounting intern to work onsite this summer at our Milwaukee facility. The ideal student will want to go into industry right after graduation.
The Badger Meter Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience to students through projects that make a difference! In addition to your projects, you will be given the opportunity to participate in our robust Intern program focused on Badger Meter Culture, professional development, community outreach and a final capstone project.

The General Accounting is responsible for supporting the Accounting department, providing assistance, and performing varying tasks for all projects within the functional area. This position is supervised directly by the General Accounting Manager who will provide direct guidance to learn the accounting process through hands on training in various job tasks and projects. The General Accounting Intern will assist with collecting, documenting and assessing data obtained through reports, queries or programs used by the department.
Essential Job Duties:
Learn ERP system as it relates to accounting, prepare and post journal entries i.e. actual, budget and forecast. Update various general ledger account analysis
Compile, balance and distribute the monthly financial statements. Prepare statements for records retention storage and online file storage on the network
Work with the accountant to audit fixed assets. Use the fixed asset report to find the asset and verify tags on the equipment
Review the quarterly project management listing and contact project managers for updates regarding expected close dates or authorization to close projects. Review all older inactive projects to determine whether they can be closed
Review consolidating work papers from the previous year end to ensure all support is included and create a document listing
Learn the chart of accounts to understand how the accounts are laid out in groupings i.e. assets, liabilities, income statement
Review the audit work papers from the previous year end to ensure all support is included and account analysis balances match the general ledger trial balance
Assist the Cost Accounting group with the following:
Monthly review of the purchase price variance with the buyers
Conduct monthly import/export audits
Prepare and issue cycle count reporting
Participate in budget prep work – review of fixed assets by work center for manufacturing
Additional projects, tasks, and/or assignments as assigned
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree (Junior Year/Standing preferred)
Wants to pursue private industry accounting post-graduation
Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products
