The Devices and Services (DaS) team is seeking an Accounting Manager to support technical assessments and operational processes of various DaS businesses. This position requires a self-starter who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our monthly accounting and reporting process and supporting new product launches and expansion efforts. The role will require you to partner and collaborate with key stakeholder groups within accounting, finance, tech, legal, and the business in order to determine accounting requirements associated with new product launches. You will be responsible for researching technical accounting issues and writing technical accounting memos, and consulting with accounting policy as needed. You will need strong project management, writing, and communication skills with the ability to make the right recommendations and influence stakeholders in order to maintain a high controllership bar.

Key job responsibilities
- Monthly accounting close including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining fluctuations and variances, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and providing meaningful financial reporting to management.
- Identify ways to improve efficiency in our month-end close processes including reducing the level of effort for manual entries, streamlining reviews/approvals, identification of synergies to drive efficiency, etc.
- Understand internal control design concepts to assess the effectiveness of controls and design new effective processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities. Perform technical accounting research and communicate the application of Amazon Accounting Policy and US GAAP to peers and business partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional business partners including Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology teams to support new project launches from creation of accounting requirements through to user testing.
