Accounting Manager

As the Accounting Manager, your responsibilities extend far beyond managing the financial records. In this key position you're a highly visible catalyst for efficiency improvements, working closely with the Divisional Controller to streamline processes, contributing to Annual Planning, and dissecting key business metrics that inform our decisions. If you're seeking a role where your contributions directly shape our business's success, all while embracing innovation, this may be the position you have been seeking. **What you will do and impact:** **Accounting Management, Analysis and Reporting:** + Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes, account reconciliations, and prepare annual tax reporting. + Ensure accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions in compliance with applicable accounting guidelines. + Prepare accurate management reporting and communicate the results effectively. + Ensure the integrity of data. Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to management for strategic decision-making. + Leverage available tools and technologies to analyze data to support process improvements and operational decisions. **Team Leadership and Development:** + Work with department managers to understand departmental expenses, create outlook and planned departmental expenses, and segment P/Ls. + Assist employees in understanding how decisions impact the financials, identify and communicate key business drivers, and provide training to enhance overall financial awareness. **Cross Functional Collaboration:** + Supports inventory management by maintaining cost files, actively participating in establishing/maintaining inventory controls, maintain cycle count reporting and physical inventory exemption requests, and coordinating and running annual physical inventory. + Efficiently manages Accounts Receivable activities for the business unit, including working with the customer service department, coordinating with the Miller A/R department, and communicating with customers to solve discrepancies as required. + Backup to Payroll functions and work with Human Resources to ensure payroll accuracy. + Apply 80/20 thinking to reduce complexity and simplify processes. + Participate in cross-functional projects within the business. **What you need to do to be successful:** + **Cultivate Curiosity** : use a curious mindset and a strong desire for continuous learning, particularly regarding business processes and their influence on financial outcomes. + **Prioritize Effectively** : prioritization that aligns with business objectives. Ability to resolve issues in a timely manner. + **Adaptability** : Be able to adjust to a changing work environment, competing demands, frequent changes, delays and unexpected events. + **Data Analysis** : Be analytical, inquisitive, and crisp in explaining the story behind the numbers and a strong ability to understand macro and micro trends and quickly discern inaccuracies. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field plus a minimum of five years of related accounting experience. CPA or equivalent designation is preferred. + ERP and Financial Reporting software experience is required.
