Accounting Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. This role is ideal for a driven and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting systems, consolidations, and team management. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of reconciliations and month-end processes. Responsibilities: • Oversee the review and approval of journal entries, reconciliations, and subledger processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Manage and review the work of a team, including eight staff members in one location and one individual in another. • Lead the month-end close process for a public company, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. • Conduct and oversee financial consolidations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational standards. • Utilize accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, OneStream, and BlackLine to streamline processes and improve efficiency. • Take ownership of ad hoc projects, conducting independent research and providing solutions as needed. • Provide guidance and support to new staff members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls through audits and reconciliations. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on consolidations and month-end processes. • Proficiency in PeopleSoft is highly preferred; experience with OneStream and BlackLine is a strong advantage. • Demonstrated ability to manage and review the work of a team, providing constructive feedback and ensuring quality. • Solid understanding of account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on ad hoc projects. • Experience with ERP systems and other accounting software tools. • Background in public company accounting processes is highly desirable. • Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
