Accounting Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Poway, California. In this role, you will oversee and enhance accounting operations, ensuring compliance with established procedures and delivering accurate financial insights. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles to manage teams and drive process improvements effectively. Responsibilities: • Develop and analyze monthly productivity metrics for the billing team to evaluate processing volumes and accuracy. • Supervise and improve internal accounting procedures and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency. • Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure customer accounts are accurately set up and invoiced according to contract terms. • Prepare and oversee journal entries, monthly accounting functions, and balance sheet reconciliations. • Lead monthly financial review meetings to provide insights and updates on performance. • Generate operational performance reports, including job costs and document turnaround times. • Support the preparation of internal and external financial statements and assist with audits conducted by external firms or government agencies. • Audit billing team outputs to ensure accuracy and safeguard revenue. • Manage team schedules, oversee payroll approvals, and ensure adherence to company policies. • Provide leadership and coaching to the accounting team, including performance evaluations, training, and career development support. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education and experience. • Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, with demonstrated expertise in managing teams. • Proficiency in Great Plains Accounting software and familiarity with ASC 606 standards. • Strong knowledge of lease accounting and month-end close processes. • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement effective controls. • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to manage and mentor teams. • Ability to prepare detailed analytical reports and forecasts.
