Accounting Manager

Reporting to the division Controller, the accounting manager manages the general accounting function of the TX production facility and the CO sales office. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the financial close process and related activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the related financial statements, as well as presenting and providing analysis of these financial statements. Responsibilities include general ledger preparation, management reporting, and analysis, activities related to SOX and financial audits, payroll administration, fixed assets, managing working capital, and support for FP&A activities. The position will involve regular contact with other members of the accounting team, business leaders in the Operations and Commercial teams, and corporate headquarters.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

Manages financial reporting.

Maintains the financial reporting and general ledger structure and mapping.

Verifies intercompany balances and clearing accounts.

Tracks T&E, P-Card, Fixed Assets and Leases for the company

Prepares or reviews journal entries, account reconciliations (e.g., bank rec), and roll forwards.

Submits financial consolidation to corporate and assists in preparation of monthly reporting package.

Quarterly perform balance sheet analytics, key reserves, and revenue recognition

Annually prepare the tax package and 10K for review (intangibles, properties, inventory, disclosures)

Manages the payroll, billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.

Oversees entry of invoices into ERP accounts payable system and bank payment (ACH, check, wire)

Oversees all billing, credit and collections procedures.

Oversees payroll in coordination with HR and payroll service provider, monitors time collection system.

Reviews withholding tax filings completed by outside payroll service.

Budgeting/Forecasting

Updates Hyperion with monthly results and reconciles to ERP system.

Helps investigate monthly variances against forecast (e.g., PPV, invoice timing, vendor detail)

Tracks approval and spend / status of capital assets (PPE)

Monitor key reserves quarterly (warranty, first-year service policy, excess and obsolete, bad debt)

Works with Stakeholders to develop allocation methodology and roll / update standard costs.

Supervisory

Provide leadership and development for direct reports.

Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions and exceptions.

Identify and implement new procedures and features to improve the department's workflow.

Set goals for staff and track progress, including business metrics to highlight performance trends.

Other

Assures compliance and support for Internal Controls over financial reporting, GAAP, and Watts policies.

Liaises with internal and external auditors (e.g., SOX, state sales and use tax audits, DOD)

Partners with Operations and external warehouses to ensure cycle count, PPV, and inventory accuracy.

Assists the Corporate legal, Trade Compliance, Tax and other department with requests for supporting documentation as needed.

Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency and continuous improvement projects.

EDUCATION:

BS/BA in Business, Finance or Accounting; MBA, CPA, or CMA a plus

MANAGEMENT:

Responsible for the leadership and development of 4-6 direct reports

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years in finance or accounting for a manufacturing company, with 2+ years of supervisory experience

Experience with Section 404 Sarbanes-Oxley and 10Q, 10K reporting support.

Experience with Epicor, Glovia, or other ERP systems; HFM or other financial consolidation systems a plus

Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel; SmartView is a plus.

High Level of analytic and quantitative skills; Prior FP&A experience a plus

Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Six Sigma certification a plus

Work in office environment

May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.

Travel Required: 10% - a few trips annually to headquarters, MA, or to visit other division locations. NY, CO, FL
