Description
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join a growing client of ours in Overland Park, Kansas. The role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closings. The successful candidate will also manage accounting staff, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support budgeting and audit activities. Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Participate in the monthly financial close process, preparing journal entries, supporting schedules, and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Drive the commission collection review process and reconcile commission payments between operating system and accounting system.
• Conduct variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with leadership to fine-tune internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
• Assist with the preparation of tax workpapers for third-party CPA firms and support annual 401k audits.
• Prepare government census reporting and file sales tax returns in multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist in the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company-provided benefits.
• Supervise, train, and mentor accounting and payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Support senior management with ad hoc financial projects, analysis, and reporting as required.
Requirements
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required
• ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning skills are a must
• Ability to handle Accounting Functions efficiently
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required
• Auditing skills are essential
• Must be able to work independently and also as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed
• Must have a degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Should have strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is a must.
