About the team and the role:
The eBay Controllership team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a combination of technical and operational accounting skills to join the team as an Accounting Manager supporting the US business. Ideal candidates will use their accounting and process knowledge in a fast-paced and team-oriented organization. The success of this role will largely be dependent on the ability to manage and collaborate with partners across various locations while ensuring month-end close activities are completed timely and accurately in accordance with accounting and reporting requirements. The model candidate will demonstrate a sense of problem awareness, skills for critical thinking, and the ability to improve accounting processes with a vision for future needs.
What you will accomplish:
Drive the month-end close by performing and validating accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses. Prepare and present month-end close reporting packages to internal and cross-functional stakeholders.
Be a trusted and relevant Controlling partner across cross functional groups such as Finance, Accounting Policy, SOX, Tax, Legal, Shared Services, Systems, and Business teams.
Support business initiatives through identifying accounting requirements, providing accounting guidance, and ensuring implementation of relevant financial controls/processes.
Assess SOX implications, modify/implement controls as appropriate, and manage accounting process reviews with internal/external auditors.
Focus on process improvement. Conduct ongoing reviews of accounting processes, internal controls, and overall effectiveness to streamline, simplify, and automate.
What you will bring:
Self-starter with a proven work ethic and possess the following:
At least 5 years of experience in Accounting; Experience in public accounting and at a large growth company is a plus
CPA or equivalent preferred
Solid understanding of US GAAP, SOX, and standard accounting processes and controls
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen to the needs of others, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present findings/recommendations effectively.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
Ability to collaborate and influence in a cross-functional environment, including working with all levels and in multiple locations.
Comfort with initiating and responding to change; demonstrated ability to leverage systems to improve accounting processes and controls.
Ability to set priorities, balance multiple tasks, and deliver results in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with ERP systems, experience with SAP is a plus
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
