Accounting Manager

**Overview**
The **Accounting Manager** is responsible for directing the general accounting function of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This includes managing the day-to-day accounting activities, leading month-end and year-end close, and providing guidance to other members of the fiscal team and organization.

**Responsibilities**
+ Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly closing process:
+ Review and approve all journal entries and related source documents
+ Work with staff to resolve any issues concerning journal entries and provide guidance to the supported businesses on entries that may be needed
+ Research and escalate GL system problems to appropriate support group
+ Collaborate with financial reporting in preparation of internal financials
+ Review monthly account reconciliations, working with the Accounting team to provide resolution for reconciling items.
+ Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
+ Manage the Accounts Payable function, working with Accounts Payable Supervisor to resolve issues as they arise.
+ Oversee general Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets.
+ Compile accounting information for the Organization’s annual audits, tax filings, and other reports, including financial statement footnotes, auditor inquiries and requests.
+ Provide support to other areas of the fiscal team, including Research Finance, Purchasing, Payroll, and Financial Analysis, as needed.
+ Support ad hoc reporting requests, analysis, special projects, etc., as received from management.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
+ 5+ years of increasing responsibility in accounting, including supervision of staff
+ Not-for-profit accounting experience highly preferred
+ Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications
+ Strong analytical/process analysis/problem solving skills
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to manage and lead staff
+ Knowledge of accounts payable preferred
+ CPA preferred
+ Ability to work independently and confidentially, and to interact with professional staff and external contacts in a professional manner
