Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our month-end close process, review journal entries and balance reconciliations, and provide variance analysis. This role involves supporting the team with audit requests, assisting in developing and improving operational systems, and managing a team of six employees. The successful candidate will ensure the timely completion of all monthly close processes and validate consolidated financial statements.

ResponsibilitiesReview journal entries and balance reconciliations as needed.Perform variance analysis and review month-over-month balance sheet and profit and loss explanations as part of the close process.Support the team with audit or miscellaneous requests, including running queries.Assist and support teams with any questions or help they may need.Manage the month-end close process, including communicating deadlines to finance and accounting teams.Review financial reporting packages and monthly results to analyze variances and trends and provide explanations to management.Evaluate and review key policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring they are complete and accurate.Ensure all internal and external audit requirements and deliverables are met.Understand operational systems and assist in the continual development and improvement of recording entries within the systems.Manage, train, and develop a team of six employees.Attend monthly close meetings and be prepared to answer questions about financial statements, provide commentary, variance explanations, and ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed.Essential Skills8-10 years of full-cycle accounting experience.Experience managing a team of 3+ resources.Strong understanding and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills.Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.Attention to detail.Ability to multi-task and work extra hours during month-end close.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with PeopleSoft Financials or large company ERP systems.CPA preferred but not required.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.Masters/MBA degree a plus.Combined experience in public accounting and the private sector a plus.Experience in the cruise industry a plus.Work Environment

The work environment includes managing a team of six employees, working with PeopleSoft Financials, and using Microsoft Excel extensively. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work extra hours during month-end close and as needed. The dress code is business casual.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
