Accounting Manager, Agrinational Insurance Company - Decatur, IL

Position Summary:
Agrinational Insurance Company is ADM’s captive insurance company providing insurance coverage to ADM’s operations and corporate enterprise activities.  The Accounting Manager, Agrinational Insurance Company (Agrinational) will play a critical role in ADM’s accounting team.  Accounting managers play a key role in ensuring monthly accounting and reporting activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner. They build leadership skills by seeking out formal and informal opportunities to develop, demonstrate abilities to partner with business leaders, and lead and manage accounting work. Managers display a strong understanding of accounting systems and processes and demonstrate ability to "think outside the box" by applying creative solutions to situations. Managers also demonstrate strong skill in identifying opportunities for improvement to departmental accuracy, timeliness and efficiency, and implementing feasible solutions.

Job Responsibilities:Ensure accurate monthly reporting and analysis of Agrinational resultsSupport and provide oversight of third party Agrinational accounting teamEnsure effective control environment and compliance with SOX control requirements including balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with US GAAP accounting requirementsCollaborate with various finance and business teams within the organization to identify and improve processes and maintain strong relationships across these teamsEnsure Agrinational results are properly reflected in ADM consolidated reporting and intercompany premiums and claim settlements eliminate as neededComplete driver-based plans and forecasts aligned to monthly actuals reportingWork with business partners to develop ad hoc financial analysis requests for senior managementPartner with insurance team on financial aspects of annual policy renewals, premium allocations to ADM business units, and claim settlementsLead coordination with external auditors for Agrinational component of consolidated ADM audit and Agrinational statutory auditAbility to influence others within a matrix environment including senior managementAbility to lead, prioritize, monitor, and manage several existing projects with tight deadlines using project management skills and techniquesRequired Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customersStrong financial analysis and financial insight skillsVisualization and communication skills (to a wide range of audiences both technical and non-technical) is requiredAbility to work independentlyWorking knowledge of Microsoft programsDesired Skills:Strong functional understanding, or expectation to learn, ADM’s operating structureExperience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is a plusUnderstanding of insurance industry accounting methods is a plusEducation Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.Required Experience:7+ years of accounting experience.  Insurance accounting experience is preferred.Experience and ability to coach and influence others, provide clear expectations and feedback, both positive and constructiveExperience executing financial analysis processesVisualization and communication skills (to a wide range of audiences both technical and non-technical) is requiredExcited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
