We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Manager to support our financial operations and ensure transparency and accountability in all our financial practices.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, reporting, compliance, and budgeting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of our financial processes and supporting our mission through transparent and accurate financial management. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit accounting, strong attention to detail, and a passion for supporting global education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Financial Management & Reporting
+ Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
+ Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions and proper coding of expenses and revenues.
+ Prepare and monitor budgets, providing regular financial reports to leadership, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
+ Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
+ Grant and Donor Fund Management
+ Ensure proper tracking and allocation of funds for grants, donations, and other restricted revenue sources.
+ Prepare financial reports for grant compliance and assist with audits related to grant funding.
+ Coordinate with program staff to ensure proper budgeting, forecasting, and spending of programmatic funds.
+ Cash Flow & Treasury Management
+ Manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs and program funding.
+ Monitor and manage bank accounts, perform regular reconciliations, and oversee the handling of receipts and disbursements.
+ Internal Controls & Compliance
+ Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and nonprofit accounting standards.
+ Support annual audits and work with auditors to ensure timely and successful completion of audits.
+ Team Leadership & Development
+ Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring ongoing professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.
+ Provide training on accounting procedures and nonprofit financial management to relevant staff.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
+ Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role within a nonprofit organization.
+ Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting, grants management, and IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
+ Experience with financial reporting and budgeting in an international context is a plus.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all aspects of financial management.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
