Where You’ll Work

Cigna, a global health services company, is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented intern to join our Accounts Payable team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial operations, focusing on improving the efficiency of our supplier records and enhancing our electronic payment processes. The selected candidate will also assist with essential day-to-day tasks that support the smooth functioning of our Accounts Payable department.

What You’ll Do

Supplier Record Optimization:Review and analyze the Supplier Master Record to identify potential candidates for conversion to electronic payment methods (e.g., ACH or wire transfer).Highlight targeted populations of Supplier Records to be converted to electronic payment methods.Accounts Payable Triage Support:Assist with monitoring and managing “Requestor Not Found” invoices. These are invoices submitted without a clear Cigna employee identified as the requestor.Collaborate with internal teams to gather the necessary information, resolve issues, and ensure invoices are processed accurately and promptly.Data Entry and Maintenance:Support in updating and maintaining the Supplier Master Record to reflect accurate information.Perform data searches and clean-up activities to ensure records are up-to-date and complete.Reporting and Documentation:Assist with tracking progress on electronic payment adoption and other related metrics.Help prepare reports and documentation to communicate findings, trends, and status updates to the team.

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.A proactive and solution-oriented mindset.Experience with data entry, analysis, or similar tasks is a plus.

Additional Information

Location: This role can work from home anywhere in the United States. Co-Op housing will not be provided.Schedule: You must be available to work 40 hours/week for 6 months. Working hours are Monday – Friday.Compensation: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of $22.00.

One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
