We are seeking a professional like you to provide accounting expertise and support for acquisition, divestiture, legal entity consolidation, or other unique or complex transactions (M&A projects), as well as supporting the US accounting & reporting team with other accounting & reporting projects, topics, or responsibilities.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you will ensure that significant accounting issues are appropriately identified, evaluated, steered, and communicated to local management and to the corporate center. This includes supporting the overall group audit as well as applicable statutory audits, as required. You will frequently engage with multiple stakeholders to ensure topics and business transactions are adequately addressed from an accounting perspective. You will also provide expertise and financial reporting guidance as it relates to BASF Group Reporting Guidelines and IFRS.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your negotiation, mediation, and conflict management skills, as well as your strong sense of accountability. You will also get to share your ability to manage ambiguity and influence others (with and without position of authority).
Providing accounting expertise for M&A projects, including contract review, technical accounting analysis & alignment, draft accounting expert commentary for approval papers, carve-out financial statement preparation, and accounting due diligence support.Providing other operational and financial accounting activities for other topical areas, projects, org. units, or entities as a member of the US accounting & reporting team.Applying your past experiences with audit & internal controls to drive the timely resolution of internal/external audit topics.Demonstrating your financial acumen, verbal and written communication skills, and data orientation, to ensure topics are addressed in a timely and satisfactory manner.Successfully engaging across the organization to build and maintain relationships throughout it, and embrace change and foster a “one team” culture. Have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration. CPA and/or MBA a plus.Possess at least 3-5 years of experience in operational and/or financial accounting roles. Previous experience with M&A a plus.Have knowledge of accounting standards with the demonstrated desire for continuous learning.Possess the ability to adapt in the face of complexities and ambiguity and to overcome obstacles.Are an effective communicator, in both verbal and written form, including the ability to influence others with or without being in a position of authority.Have negotiation, mediation, and conflict management skills.Create your own chemistry with you@BASF
