The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support for the organization and executing some aspects of the Company’s accounting and analysis function. He/she is also responsible for preparing and reviewing financial reports and analysis of accounting and membership data as well as special projects at the direction of the Director, Corporate Accounting.

ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports and receives instruction from the Director, Corporate Accounting to assist in analysis and reporting of all accounting areas, including Balance Sheet and Income Statement related accounts and Financial Reporting.Contributes to the analysis of data produced by the monthly financial close process, ensuring revenue, medical costs, SG&A and membership are properly recorded.Follows accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review of process and system changes.Assists with the preparation of certain internal and external financial reports.Assists the Director, Corporate Accounting with the independent auditors’ annual financial audit, by providing required schedules, and assisting with coordination.Prepares and analyzes financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.Assists in the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Director, Corporate Accounting.Works with other Finance departments such as, GL Accounting, Payor Accounting, Financial Systems, FP&A (Financial Planning and Accounting), Field Finance, Tax and Treasury to ensure tasks and analysis are relevant and represent accurate information.Assists with the preparation of variance analysis and trends.Assists with the implementation of system efficiencies and business practices.Participates in strategic financial projects including upgrades of ERP software, reconciliation systems and overall accounting process improvement.Helps develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.Analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvementEnsures compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirementsPrepares detailed variance analysis reports comparing actual vs. budgeted performancePerforms other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to effectively support/train and perform transactional based finance and accounting transactions.Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, statistical analysis, corporate finance and accounting, required.Ability to use good judgment, understand complex business situations, work with ambiguity, be a creative thinker, execute strong communication skills, be a self-starter, and have attention to detail.Ability to use discretion under a variety of circumstances and when using confidential information.Strong financial modeling and presentation skills.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet tie deadlines (nights and weekends may be required)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database softwareAbility and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 20% of the timeSpoken and written fluency in EnglishThis job requires use and exercise of independent judgmentEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis above the minimum experience required; MBA preferredMinimum of four (4) years of related experiencePublic accounting background is a plusHealthcare (Value Based Care) experience is a plus
